"A Must Read About Slim Quick-pure"

Todays Health Awareness Blog is entitled, "A Must Read About SlimQuick-pure."

My precious blog was about the dangers of the product Slim Fast.

Well, I was recently asked about a new product called SlimQuick-Pure.

I looked up their official website at and this is what they said . . .

"SlimQuick Pure is a ground-breaking natural formula designed to help women lose 3 times the weight in 13 weeks. It's exclusive NATURAL extract is so potent, it makes New SlimQuick - Pure the most effective weight loss supplement for women Period. 100% GOOD. Nothing Bad. The best part is, new SLIMQUICK PURE contains NATURAL ingredients. With antioxidants, calcium, vitamin D, and BioPure Green Tea, it's as good for you as it is effective."

Okay . . . that statement was pretty powerful!

So to say something of that caliber,

it must be true . . . RIGHT?

Warning reviews said this, "We have seen no evidence that clinical research has been done on this product. The FDA warns dieter to refrain from taking the product. Too many negative customer reviews have been published online. And the product is lacking in clinical research."

With that being said, this was my own research.

The ingredient list is as follows:

* Microcrystalline Celulose - is a term for refined wood pulp and is used as a texturizer, an anti-caking agent (I spoke of the danger of this in a previous blog), a fat substitute, an emulsfier, an extender, and a bulking agent in food production. The most common form is used in vitamin supplements or tablets. (This is the first ingredient and is not good for you. We're not starting off very good.)

*Acesulfame potassium - also known as acesulfame K or Ace K is a calorie-free sugar substitute and marketed under the trade names of Sunett and Sweet One. Natural News says, "Acesulfame is a potassium salt that contains methylene chloride a known carcinogen. Reported side effects are nausea, headaches, mood problems, impairment of the liver and kidneys, problems with eye sight and possibly cancer. Acesulfame K may contribute to hypoglycemia. Early studies showed a link to multiple cancer developments in lab animals. And remember this, humans have 99% of the same DNA as the lab mice and rats. This carcinogen, so cutely named "AC-K" is derived from Aceto-acetic acid and Fluoro-sulfonyl Iso-Cyanate. Silent killers are lurking in artificial sweeteners; those "concentrated sugar" substitutes that warp your cells and make them mutate and multiply uncontrollably."

*  Propylene glycol -is a liquid alcohol that is used as a solvent, in antifreeze, and in the food, plastic and perfume industries.

* Silicon dioxide - is a hard, unreactive, colorless compound that occurs as the mineral quartz and as a principal constituent of sandstone and other rocks. Side effects . . . kidney stone can occur.

* Stearic acid - is a solid saturated fatty acid obtained from animal or vegetable fats. And is a long-chain saturated fatty acid

* Titanium dioxide - is a white unreactive solid that occurs naturally as the mineral rutile and is used extensively as a white pigment. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety says, "Titanium dioxide has recently been classified by the International Agency of Research on Cancer (IARC) as a IARC Group 2B Carcinogen, "possibly carcinogen to humans". Titanium dioxide accounts for 70% of the total production volume of pigments worldwide. It is widely used to provide whiteness and opacity to products such as paints, plastics, paper, inks, foods and toothpaste."

* Polyethylene glycol - is a synthetic resin made by polymerizing ethylene glycol, inparticular any of a series of water-soluble oligomers and polymers used chiefly as solvents or waxes. WebMD says, "side effects nausea, abdominal cramping, or gas may occur."

* Croscamellose sodium - is a common used matrix to deliver drugs to the intestines.

* Film coatings - are a coating on the tablet made from sugar or plasticizers.

* Hypromellose hydrozpropyl cellulose - is a coating agent and film-former used as an inactive ingredient in the pharmaceutical industry.

* Magnesium stearate - Chris Kresser says, "is a salt that is produced when a magnesium ion bonds with 2 stearate molecules. Stearic acid is a long-chain saturated fat. Magnesium stearate is most commonly used in supplement manufacturing as a "flow agent," which helps ensure that the equipment runs smoothly and ingredients stay blended together in the correct proportions."

* Maltodextrin - says, "Maltodextrin is derived from plants, BUT is highly processed. Generally Maltodextrin comes from corn, rice, or potato starch. It also can be made from wheat. The starches are cooked and then acids or enzymes are added to break it down further, before resulting in a white powder. Several studies have linked Maltodextrin consumption to the suppression of "good bacteria" in the digestive system. This potentially puts people who consume a lot of the additive at risk of bacterial infections such as Salmonella or E.coli. Despite being only slightly sweet, if at all, Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate. It will affect your blood sugar. This is an important thing for people with diabetes."

After researching the ingredients of this product, I am truly puzzled as to where the natural ingredients are that the official website was talking about.

And where was the BioPure Green Tea?

Please . . . be aware of what you are consuming. Labels and advertising don't always tell the truth.

Today's Health Awareness Blog is entitled,

Do You Know Why GLUTEN Is So Bad For You?"

The definition is this: "A substance present in cereal grains, especially wheat that is responsible for the elastic texture of dough. A mixture of two proteins that can causes illness in people with celiac disease."

I spoke about this in my second book entitled,

"The Truth About Weight Loss - What Conventional Diets DON'T Want You To Know."

We hear a lot of talk about GLUTEN, but do we really understand why gluten is so bad for us?

I was at the grocery store picking up a few things the other day and stopped at the gluten-free section. I picked up my regular gluten-free bread, granola and pastas. As I was picking out my items, a very lovely woman was standing next to me looking very overwhelmed. I said, "This bread is very tasty." She said, "Oh . . . Okay . . . thank you." She then told me her doctor had just put her on a gluten-free diet and that the first few times shopping would be a little overwhelming. By the look on her face . . . that was an understatement! I tried to help the best I could, but I still felt so bad for her and her concerns. I was sure, she, like most other patients with this diagnosis were really not told the magnitude of damage gluten can cause.  So I decided this would be my next blog,

So do we really understand why GLUTEN is so bad for us?

The Celiac Disease Foundation says, "Gluten is a general name for the protein found in wheat (durum, emmer, spelt, farina, farro, kamut, khorasan wheat and einkorn), rye, barley and triticale. Gluten helps foods maintain their shape, acting as a glue that holds food together.

Wheat gluten can be found in breads, baked goods, soups, pasta, cereals, sauces, salad dressings, roux.

Barley gluten can be found in malt, food coloring, soups, malt vinegar, beer.

Rye gluten can be found in rye bread such as pumpernickel, rye beer, cereals."

Authority Nutrition says, "When flour is mixed with water, gluten forms a sticky cross-linked network of proteins, giving elastic properties to dough, which allows bread to rise when baked.

But when gluten reaches the digestive tract and is exposed to the cells of the immune system, they mistakenly believe that it is coming from some sort of foreign invader, like a bacteria.

In certain people who are sensitive to gluten, this causes the immune system to mount an attack against it."

Mark Hyman M.D. says, "Gluten sensitivity is actually an auto-immune disease that creates inflammation throughout the body, with wide-ranging affects across all organ systems including your brain, heart, joints, digestive tract, and more."

Okay . . . so now we have a better understanding just how bad gluten can be for those that have a sensitivity!

But what about those of us that aren't sensitive?

And why do I choose to eat GLUTEN-FREE?

Natural News says, "Wheat is not the same today as it was in the past. It has been agriculturally hybrid, now genetically lab engineered over some decades to resist fungus, grow more quickly, and be more pliable for industrial bread baking. As a consequence, 50 - 60 years ago, wheat containing only 5% gluten has become 50% gluten today.

Agricultural resources used the hybrid process for wheat to accommodate the baking industry's mechanical requirements of pliable proteins, leading to the 10-fold increase of wheat gluten."

Bio Trust Nutrition says, " You may not realize this, but the dangers of gluten are secretly hiding in sauces, salad dressings, soup seasoning blends, and the vast majority of packaged food (even if you think they're gluten-free).

So why is gluten such a problem that you must avoid it? You see, gluten is extremely difficult for most people to properly digest, leading to digestive issues like gas, bloating and overall discomfort.  And even if you don't feel the side effects of gluten, rest assured it's still causing "silent damage" to your gut and immune system. Ingested gluten acts like shards of glass cutting into the intestinal wall, causing inflammation and compromising your immune system, overall health and can even be the cause of slowed or completely stalled fat loss."

And that is why "I" choose to eat gluten-free!

So to those of you that have escaped the doctors diagnosis of the dreaded gluten-free diet.

Maybe you need to rethink your plan and think about going

To the lady I spoke with the other day,

You are in my prayers and it does get easier.
